do universities prefer 3 sciences and maths or a range e.g. maths chemistry biology and say history?
or am I at a disadvantage if I just do biology chemistry maths instead of 4 at AS

Hi first of all, you will not be at a disadvantage if taking 3 A Levels in Year 12, its better to achieve AAA than AABB! The all sciences/humanities depends on the university-for example for medicine, UCL prefers a humanity subject alongside the sciencey ones, while Cambridge requires 3 sciences at AS. Your options should mostly depend on your likes and dislikes and on the course you're looking to apply for
