Girl I really like has a boyfriend

So there's a girl in my school, She's beautiful, smart, kind and loving, and I really really like her, But the problem is that I recently found out she has a boyfriend... and that boyfriend is one of my mates... and recently he came to school drunk and violent and it made her really upset to the point of crying so I comforted her. Apparently this isn't the first time he's done this and it made me think in my head "why is she with him". So long story short I really like this girl but she has a boyfriend who she doesn't seem to like a whole lot. What should I do?
If she is upset by him and they are not happy together, then you can talk to her about it and make sure that she is not happy with her current relationship, if she is happy with her relationship, you should move on despite.

1. Just try to be there for this girl without moving in overtly on her.

2. Do you really want to keep this young man as your mate?

3. Report his criminal behaviour to the school authorities. Mate or no mate, you have a duty of care to the staff and other pupils at your school.
