    Hi,

I have an offer for a university at AAA which I am sure I want to firm, however my next 4 offers are all also AAA besides one which is ABB. This would seem to be a clear answer: choose the ABB as your insurance! However, I am now not certain whether I want to go to the ABB choice, and I think if I missed my offer I would not be keen on going there and would probably try for adjustment or choose to take a gap year.

What's more, my offer for the ABB includes an A in Maths; the subject I am most likely to drop down in. Effectively, I do not have much of an insurance at all.

What I am wondering is; if I made another AAA choice my insurance, and missed AAA, might the insurance university be able to reconsider me still and choose to give me an offer even if I got AAB? The AAA insurance would potentially be St Andrews, for example.

    Thanks.

You can't use adjustment if you miss your firm offer, you have to exceed it. If you don't want to go to the ABB choice then pick one of the AAA choices as in insurance or you don't have to have an insurance if it doesn't suit you.

I'm not sure if there's a way to find this out, but I would try and work out which of the AAA unis was most likely to accept me if I dropped a grade- e.g. were any in clearing last year? Otherwise, just pick your second favourite AAA uni, and at least you get two chances on results day instead of one!
