A laptop isn't 'given' to you anymore. If you don't already have a laptop/computer which will run any specialist software which may be recommended for you, a laptop which has the minimum specification needed to run that software might be recommended and you will be expected to pay the first £200 of this. This is because it's expected nowadays that every student will need at least a basic, entry level laptop when they go to university (approx cost £200), so a basic laptop isn't considered a disability related need and you will need to pay the sum of £200 when placing your equipment order.

However, you will first need to be made eligible for DSAs and then arrange a needs assessment, taking along your laptop if you have one, or a list of it's specifications, then wait for a copy of your report and an agreement letter from your funding body. The advice above relates to SFE only.
