    think of motion at constant speed in a circle.

    In practice of course we tend to slow down to take a corner, be it in a car, on a bike, whatever. (But that's to do with friction, radius of curvature and centripetal force, so probably for another thread )

    Velocity is a vector so any change in direction is necessarily a change in velocity.

    Speed is a scalar

    Speed becomes zero where there are no metres moved per second (so when no distance changes)

    Velocity becomes negative if you’re moving away from the positive start direction

    Speed is directionless it is a scalar. The velocity would change in direction (angle) but not in Magnitude.
