Anyone knows if you are allowed to watch twitch streams / porn and play video games using the dorm internet?

I'm genuinely curious about this thank you guys. It's not that I do either of those things I swear!

Assuming you're 'asking for a friend'. From what I've heard, most of those things go through the uni filter quite happily and don't get blocked, however a VPN will easily bypass any blocks that are in place.

Again, this isn't something I've dealt with personally, but people have told me that there aren't many filters, and the ones that are there are simple to get around.

depends on uni regulations but if they don't want to to do this stuff they'd just block the relevant sites

but uni internet is the only internet you have so it'd be weird they don't let you do what you like (as long as it's legal of course)

    Porn definitely isn't blocked.
I don't watch twitch streams, but I can't imagine it being blocked.

Video games are more problematic. Console is where the difficulty lies since you have to install a certificate and stuff to use the uni wifi on devices which is easy on normal devices (phone, laptop) but I could never work out how to do it on my PS4, I imagine IT services would probably help but I never bothered to see them. If you play on PC you should be fine though.

The chances of the uni ever actually bothering to analyse any of the 10,000+ users' activities on the university wide wifi system is pretty low. Unless you're doing particularly odd things like dealing drugs on the dark web then there's nothing to worry about.
