Hi! I thought I'd make a thread for the synoptic essay on Paper 3, in my opinion there seems to be limited resources online so please feel free to share any resources/ways of preparation you are using!

There's also a mention of using off the specification content, does anyone have any recommendations of resources for extra reading, that's at the right level? The things I've found seem to be either too simple or wayyy to in depth for including in the essay!

    Thank you

    Hey,

I recommend the BioFacts sheets, you can find these all over the internet and they give great on and off spec detail, so its basically revising both.

There's also a magazine you can subscribe to i think it's called Biology today or something like that.

Thanks! Could it be moved to A level biology by any chance?

I think the magazine is Biological Sciences Review? I kind of wish I did some more extra reading as we went through the course as now I'm way too stressed to be doing any. The essay is so hard - I personally don't understand how you're supposed to know how much detail to include for each paragraph - as in are you supposed to talk about the whole process..? It's so frustrating, I just wish we didn't have to have the added stress of these essays, sigh >.<

Yeah, my school has access to biological sciences review but I can't get onto it at home and I'm currently on 2 week holidays! I definitely agree, it's hard to know how much time to spend on extra reading which is potentially only worth a few extra marks, when you have all the content to revise too! I thought there would be more specific resources online or in text books but there's not much at all
