    While the banning of any tool capable of increasing the lethality of a firearm so signficantly and cheaply can only be a good thing, this is Trump banning something that really should already have been banned (for those unaware, a bump stock allows a semi-automatic firearm to fire at speeds well in the range of an automatic weapon) as a token gesture without actually addressing the underlying issue. He's trying to do the bare minimum in the hopes of appeasing opponents without ruffling the feathers of his supporters.

    yep, banning the bumps won't make a jot of difference, - they aren't used a great deal anyhow other than in the Las Vegas incident

    hopefully though, this will lead to a sensible debate about legalising guns in the UK for self-defence purposes

    I very much doubt that sustained international criticism on the US's policy of gun ownership will result in the UK at all reconsidering its position on gun ownership.
