    Hi,

I'm currently studying BVetMed as a second degree (so only get a maintenance loan).
Currently I get the absolute minimum as I am only 24, and not classed as 'independent' from my parents (which, frankly, is laughable but that's another debate for another time).
I turn 25 during the next academic year - so when I apply for it, will I be given the higher loan amount based on that, or will I still be given the minimum as I will be 24 for part of the year?

Can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere but I appreciate it's a bit of a niche situation!

    Hi Ness,

In order to be classed as an Independent Student you would have to be 25 or over before the start of the academic year.

    Thanks

    Louise
