    Hello,

I am a little confused as to whether I will be entitled to Student Finance, so hopefully someone can help me.

At the moment, I am a first year student, studying Civil Engineering at Swansea University (the course length is three years).

I want to transfer to Northumbria University, into second year Civil Engineering (again, the course length is three years, but I will be entering in second year, so I will study it for two years).

However, I previously studied Maths, before I transferred to Civil Engineering, so I have already used my additional year of funding.

Because I'm only changing unis and not having to repeat a year, will I still get funding?

    Thanks.

    Hi Francis,

The rules regarding previous study states that students are entitled to the ordinary duration of their new course plus 1 extra year, minus any previous study.
Remaining years of ordinary entitlement will be awarded in the final years of the course.
So if you are wishing to transfer into the 2nd year of a 3 year course and you already have 2 years previous study , you would have 2 year full support remaining which would be awarded to years 2 and 3.

    Thanks

    Louise
