    Hi all,

I am a mature student applying for 18/19 entry

I have a few questions related to student finance

I'm classed as an independent student and my application has been approved - for the full £8,700 available this year (I didn't submit any financial details, isn't this a bit odd? Unless they can obtain income amounts from my passport number and not my NI number) and I have also read that you need to reapply for student finance every year. I'd just like to know, if once you reapply do you get assessed against the amount available for that year or do you get the same amount again.

I.e. if I do a 3 year course and reapply every year do I get an £8,700 loan per year or does it go up/down with any changes (I know that the maintenance loan was around £8,400 max for example)

    Thanks!

Because you're classed as independent, your income is ignored in full.

You have to apply each year. Only in your final year will the amount change. It'll go down because you don't need any finance from SFE over the summer as you're no longer a student.
