I was going to make a thread about this - I have my heart stuck on Manchester but I feel I ought to at least give LSE a chance (oddly enough the offer is higher at Manch (ABB) than LSE (BBB))

Same with me! Manchester wanted ABB for Sociology and LSE wanted BBB.

But if the OP will not be happy there then there's no point. Besides you would have to be brain-dead in order to actively wish to go into IB.

So you think that people in IB were simply floating along when one day they found themselves as an investment banker?!?!
you dont have to go to LSE etc to get into IB. It does help to have a degree from LSE but if you are not going to be happy then i would turn down LSE. Your happiness counts for a lot more than the uni rep. Being sad, depressed at uni can really hit your university studies and you may end up coming out with a 2.2 when you are capable of a 1st or 2.1. I know a couple of people who transferred to Notts after their first year at LSE as they "Felt like hanging themselves due to the crappy social life at LSE". Remember LSE isnt for everyone and you should really go to a uni you will feel comfortable at for the next 3 years of your life

At the end of the day, for everyone happiness is extremely important; and im sure you will get similar career opportunities wherever you go. Yes, LSE is renowned for its courses, but there isnt one straight answer for everyone, its an individual choice.

It is a really tough choice. I decided to come to LSE over other unis that I liked better, and now I am pretty miserable. I just keep telling myself that a year of pain now will pay off for my career in the long run, and that one day I'll be glad I made the decision I made. And besides, only 6 and a half more months to go...
