    Please help a girl out!!

I'm trying to recall a empowering historic poem/ text by a famous woman, probably no more than 150 years old, that I read in a book as a child and I now need for my literature assessment and for personal reference.

The text is empowering women, daring them to "cross to the other side of sword". Meaning they should live on the less treaded and unstable but more fulfilling side of life and not adhere to the traditional expectations of a woman.
I can only remember that line and it may not even be right or my wording is wrong as I remember it's written in an old fashioned context. I've googled this but can't find anything. I'd be so appreciative if you could please let me know if you've read it or have any idea as to the text/ who the author is.

    Thank you!
