Svalbard is most at risk from mining , although this has stopped in the most recent years. But before eg in the 20th century’s there were lots of coal mines which exploited the natural landscape. Nowadays the main problem is over tourism and managing tourism. There are many cruises and boat tours to the other islands, where tourists can potentially damage or disturb the native species, mainly the polar bears, that live there. But the Norwegian government is very good at managing tourism numbers and promoting sustainability and management schemes, eg tourists taking their rubbish home with them.

So overall there isn’t too much of a “human risk” personally. You can listen to the “Extremities Podcast” about Svalbard too (would highly recommend) if you’re interested.
