There is a girl who I am speaking to for a while now and normally I am not confident to talk to others and feel like a burden most of the time but talking to her helped me forget about that. Until it was time to go then it continued but that is not relevant

I know this may see cringy but how do I "make the move"? never saying that again)

I don't want to rush it I don't want to just go straight in but how do I build it up I guess you can say. I feel like it would be so embarrassing being alone at prom or even getting rejected. How can I get over my nerves and gradually build up without just opening straight up?

You could flirt a bit or tease her playfully, that's how you can get her attention. If she reciprocates then you have the green light to ask her out.
