# Alevel help with further maths watch

1. (Original post by Ioanna13)
I am doing Further Maths AQA 2018, it is the new linear course
A level Maths is 100% prescribed but FM isn't (there's an option to sit all pure, no applied).

In the new A-Level Maths you do. Statistics in FM is optional.
Yeah that's true but I meant there's an option to sit all pure content e.g. C1-C2/FP1-FP2.

Are you sure? Because it is a very new Alevel
The Y12’s this year are doing the new one.

I've done this- i think this is first principle enough but if not I can try and prove parts of this solution too.
Re: initial question.

Couple of points:

1. Always good to have people on board who will assiist, but be aware that fully worked solutions are against the forum rules - sticky thread at top of forum.

2. Your working needs modifying since X is defined on 2,4,6,..., rather than 1,2,3. Actual variance will be 4 times your solution.

...
For info.

For info.
So we just have to halve the Variance by 4?

Huh! I've no idea what that means.

As I said, the actual variance will be four times the value ZaraHuss worked out.

What they worked out isn't the question that was asked.

You need to adapt their method.
