# Need advice on whether to retake or not... watch

1. Last year I scored a UMS of 261 in AS maths, which equates to AAA in the three papers. Should I retake parts that had a lower UMS in order to achieve an A* in the A2 course? I say this because I'm unsure whether I needed to get all As in the AS and over 90 in both C3 and C4, or since my average of C1 and C2 was 88.5, I need to score at least 91.5 in C3 or C4 to get an A*.

C1 90
C2 87
M1 84
2. As someone who only did a few maths AS retakes I’d say do as many as you can cope with. Don’t overload yourself with too much work but retake the ones you really feel you can do better in. My AS retakes really helped my overall grades at the end of A2
3. As long as your total UMS is over 480 and you get 90 in c3 and c4 then you will get A*.

So I need to score 39 in M2 (Which I'll try not to do, but theoretically) and get 90+ in both. Is the grade boundary specific about getting 90+ in C3 and C4?

No. You need:
• At least 480 overall
• At least 180 from C3 and C4. It doesn't matter how that 180 is split - 100 and 80 would be fine.

Ah perfect, thank you!
