How important is having a friend on the DofE expedition watch

    • Thread Starter

My teacher tried really hard to get me and my friends into the same expedition group but because I am going on a school trip I can't be in their group because I'll be away. I'm now in a group with 6 other girls who are all friends with each other and I have no idea who half of them even are! For anyone who's done an expedition before, how much talking is there time for and will it be awkward for me to be in their group? The only way I'll be able to go with my friends is if we make a group of 3, which isn't allowed Should I bring an iPod or something or just walk alone?

ive done a dofe expression with a completely random group of people before that i met the same day and trust me you'll end up having to work together anyway. you can bring an ipod but perhaps only listen with one earphone in so it doesn't seem like you're trying to shut them out, you'll probably end up working well as a group even though you don't know them well now.

I did DofE with people I hardly knew as well, that were all friends. It's fine, you just end up talking constantly as you're walking for nearly 6 hours, and there's not much else to do. Just chat with them and get to know them and it'll be fine
