When should I get it? How do I organise it? Where can I do it? Do charity shops volunteering help with the application?

    When should I get it?
As soon as you're able to. Usually this is when you're 17+ (for clinical experience), but you might be able to get it sooner if you make enquiries or have contacts. You need to organise it months in advance though as there's usually a lot of paperwork, DBS checks, having to chase people etc.

    How do I organise it?
As above, use any contacts you have (family members, friends' parents etc), search on hospital websites to find the work experience co-ordinator, and contact GP practice managers.

    Where can I do it?
Hospitals and GP surgeries would be the most relevant places - failing that you can do general volunteering in a care home or similar, but the best thing is actual medical work experience.

Do charity shops volunteering help with the application?
Only if you think it's going to give you insights into a career in medicine.
Have you ever experienced racism/sexism at uni?
