Kind of stressing about the number of extra-curricular activites I am able to put on my personal statement at the moment. I don't really have anything that Oxbridge or RG unis would be particularly interested in seeing. I'm also not a prefect or mentor.

I study Maths and Sciences so preferably something related to those fields would be great. I've tried looking around, and Sutton Trust 'summer schools' (Imperial, Cambridge etc) caught my eye, but those are unavailable to students that haven't gone to a state school their whole life :/ (I currently don't attend a state school)

Does anyone know any courses/places/things I can do that looks impressive on a personal statement, or start a conversation?

Try EES programme by the EDT. Or call up many engineering companies or universities and ask if they offer work experience. That's how most people get them.
