# Hard maths question watch

1. The distance by road from Newport to London is 140 miles.

Tom travels by coach from Newport to London . The coach leaves Newport at1.30pm
He assumes the coach will travel at an average speed of 50mph.
Use his assumption to work out the arrival time.

3. Use speed = distance / time
4. so set up a distance, speed , time triangle. put the 140 miles at the top & the 50mph in the left hand corner below. now you need to divide. this will give you the time but with a decimal. you need to change this into hours and minutes.

there is a button on your calculator which does this: it is usually marked . , ,,
