    Hello all,
Apologies that this is a really long winded post- but I could really do with some help and guidance.
I am currently entertaining the notion of higher education. I am thinking that within the next couple of years I may go to university to study a business degree of some kind.
There are however two things that are currently preventing me from applying to University. The first is that at this current point in time I am in poor health.
The second and more important reason is that I have previously attended university and it did not go well. Initially I was studying to become a healthcare professional and due to a rather adolescent and stupid mistake on my part a rather unprofessional conversation took place.
The nature of this conversation was not compatible with my chosen career, and it was really very unprofessional and adolescent of me. The conversation was reported to the University and after several months of disciplinary proceedings it was decided that I was to be given a formal reprimand. I unfortunately had to withdraw from my course shortly after because I was unable to secure a placement.
Anyway, given what has happened and my recent health scare working in health care isn’t really an option anymore but I’m concerned that university might not be either.
When you apply through UCAS you have to say that you previously attended uni even if you didn’t finish the course, and I imagine any potential uni would want to know why I was withdrawn from my course.

My question therefore is: am I being really silly or is there some truth that I will find securing a place at university incredibly difficult?

    Thanks in advance 😀

If you can show that you understand what you did wrong and have learned from the experience then it shouldn’t be a problem. Have you spoken to anyone at your old university about your plans. They may well be willing to give you a reference after speaking to you if they are sympathetic and you are able to show how you have moved on.

You should really let your unis know that you were at uni and withdrew. If you got any grades from your first uni they need to be declared. Otherwise your referee can explain the situation. As you are applying for something different and have learnt from your mistakes you should be fine.
