I feel like I haven't got enough to put on my statement, does anyone know if there's any kinds of short courses that can be completed or applied for in the next year? Do personal projects count ? (maths, chem and physics)

If you are in year 12 I wouldn't worry about personal statements right now, focus should be on exams/mock. What course are you thinking of applying for?

Keep an eye out for taster days/Masterclasses tho

Ask your fav subject teacher if you can become their pa e.g.: biology. Ask your teacher if you can help out in like biology support lunch times or something with other students. Then ask for permission to call yourself "biology ambassador".
    Offer to tutor other students.
Any sort of scouting group is good.
Find relevant interests. Sorry this is very bio based, but find books like 'the man who mistook his wife for a hat' or 'the selfish gene' that give you more depth to your preferred subject
    Its all about asking

Thanks, that's what I've been told so far but mechanical or product design engineering which I'm thinking of applying for are really competitive. ( I'm in S5 / Year 11? ) Masterclasses? I think I'm gonna do a couple of online tech courses, would that help?

I think my school has a peer mentor scheme, the tutoring sounds like a good idea and I'll look into the books thing. Thanks x
