Ravensbourne foundation - Design and Media or Fashion and Textiles ?

Hi ! I'm in need of advice - what pathway should I choose if I'm mostly interested in fashion communication and hoping to progress into a fashion communication BA ? Design and Media or Fashion and Textiles ?

I thought that Fashion and Textiles would be the best choice as it has a specialist pathway in fashion promotion but I'm really bad at fashion design so I feel like this might be a big disadvantage for me :/

Thanks in advance for the help

Hello Edenlny,

Really sorry for not replying earlier!
Personally I would go with Design and Media approach in your dilemma, as it links better with Fashion communication, as you would learn more about the advertising and media aspects that you would require for a course such as Fashion buying & Brand Management.

The Fashion foundation course is very heavily reliant on doing actual fashion based projects and learning fashion terminology, while the Media foundation is more related to the creative media outlets. The first month you will spend doing many different projects with different subjects, but at the end of it you will get the choice to specialize in a specific sector you would like to stay in, which will help you determine what route you would like to go for.

It is honestly a hard choice, and I don't want to misguide you. your best option would be to come to one of the open days; the next foundation open day is on Saturday 24 March.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to message us again. Hopefully next time we will reply soon :colondollar:

Kind regards,
Michail
