If you had an appointment at the dentist or doctor or w.e, how long would you be okay with waiting past your appointment time before you get called in to be seen?

for e.g, if you were booked in for 1pm, how long would you not mind waiting past 1pm before you would be agitated that your dentist/doctor is running late.

I was due to see a patient today at 3.15pm but I was running a few mins late, I told my nurse to inform the patient that I'll be with them in 10 mins. The patient waited 5 more minutes and just when I was about to call them in from the waiting room they got really angry and just went to reception and complained and rebooked for another day.

The total time the patient spent waiting passed their scheduled appointment time was 15 minutes.

I will call on Monday morning to apologise for keeping them waiting, but personally I don't think getting angry was warranted.. this is the first time a patient reacted like this towards me.

It depends if I have other time-sensitive plans later that day. If I book an appointment at 10am but I start work at 12pm, considering everything I need to do to get to work on time I think 15 minutes and then I would have to reschedule.

If I didn't have time sensitive plans then I'd say 30-45 minutes.

My gp is pretty much always half an hour late but since I only go when I ve no option to I don't mind since the treatment I m given usually works and it's free so half an hour wait is nothing really.

It depends. My GP does run late sometimes. But I've had appointments that do overrun; so can't really whinge.

EDIT: did wait some 40 minutes last time. My appointment, too, did overrun.

Waited for a consultant who was 2 hours late. There is that dilemma of "I have waited 1hr, might as well another 10 ... well, I have waited 1hr20, might as well wait for another 40 mins".

As long as it takes. I've waited for up to 1,5 hours before.
