I am currently studying for my GCSEs and im wondering if it is essential to take Maths A-level, I want to get into computing when I am older (a computing course at uni). I am forecast a grade 6/7 however I don’t particularly enjoy it so would prefer not to.
    Any help and opinions appreciated.

It depends on the uni, if you want to a good one then it will either be required or very useful.

computer science usually requires maths, but a-level shouldn't be impossible at 6/7 grade - my friend got an A so around that level, is currently doing edexcel maths and is finding it more interesting than gcse, if that helps.

There are some unis that don't require A Level Maths (Cardiff comes to mind)

but make no mistake, most will and even Cardiff will make you learn it anyway, so I just recommend doing it.

Thanks everyone for the help, I think I will change to do maths in September now as it seems useful for many more things.

I got a 7 in gcse and do maths a-level, personally because of the new a-level and its spec, if you don't enjoy the gcse and not into maths don't do an a-level. You can still go to a decent uni, it may not be one of the top 10. I know someone who is doing computing degree @ uni of bham with the a-level's Computer science / Biology / psychology
