So it's that time where us 13/14 year olds have to pick our options, I've already decided on art and RE but then I have one last option to pick. I got an ebacc options form (where my school advices me to take a language) but I've never particularly enjoyed learning French although knowing a language would be cool and apparently it helps you get into university.

So I'm stuck between taking: media, imedia, graphics and French.

    Any thoughts?

EBacc subjects are advised because they make the school look good, it has little to do with you

Al language is always good to take, however, if you're not willing to commit to it and generally don't enjoy it, then you will face 2 years of hell.
Several people I know didn't do a language and are just fine in college and uni

What do you generally prefer out of Graphics and Media?

I am also picking my options and taking: Triple science, Spanish, PE and RE. I would advise to take a language because to looks very good on an application (although it is not necessary for you to have a language at many collages these days). But if you really don’t like French and you don’t think that you would get a good grade then don’t pick it, because a 8 in imedia or media will look better than a 6 in French

Really you should just chose whichever you like best, most collages don’t need a language and it is only London collage that I have heard that do

I didn’t choose a language for GCSE and I’m doing a PhD now so I don’t think it’s that important to be honest

From my perspective, dont do a language, it might be just me or the fact that my school has made language compulsory with no option to drop it, apart from if you are failing everything. I has a bad start to languages, my whole year did. Through out year 7 and 8 we had a teacher that didnt really care about us, year 9 we had 2 teachers, who left.. and we have a teacher that is good now, in year 11, which is somewhat too late. So if i could, i wouldnt do a language, do something that is more practical. I do product design and im predicted a B if all goes well, its enjoyable, practical and different from the other hardcore subjects. Hope i helped
