Can I open a student bank account under 18?

I will be 17 when I start uni this year (my birthday is in december) and I can't find any information online about whether it is possible to open up a bank account in the UK. I know you generally have to be 18, but is there any bank that will do? Also, is it a must to have a bank account set up in the UK, or will one in my home country (Luxembourg) be enough when I'm in uni?

Lot of student accounts will be limited to 18 year olds and for home students. As a freign student then you will be limited to basic accounts. you only really need one that works.

There are under 18 accounts at the bottom of the page.

Theres also a unizest account which you can open from aged 16.
