"Explain the importance of statistics on infectious disease to health authorities" the example given in the question is HIV/AIDS. It's worth 3 marks - so far I've got to monitor success of treatments/progression of disease but nothing else. Any ideas?

If you are a health authority, you get a set amount of money to spend at the start of the year. Think of the most useful info you might want in order to plan this spending.
