    Hey there
My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year now; we met at university. He is taking a year abroad in Australia next academic year, meaning he’ll leave for aus in July, giving us practically no summer together, and he doesn’t plan on coming back at all, all year. He’s super excited to go and learn to surf and make new mates and I know he’ll have such a good time I just can’t bare the thought of being apart for a year and I won’t be able to afford to fly out to see him. I know there are things like Skype and obvs we will chat on the phone but you really can’t replicate being in the same room, having a cuddle etc. I’m so worried is there anyone who’s had a year away from their partner and can give me some reassurance? Or even someone who can be blunt and tell me not to bother? Thank you x

Ask him if he has plans on staying with u after his gap year. A years a long time you both could meet new people not just him. You don’t want to hurt each other. Ask him how he believes the distance will effect your relationship.
