Hi as a lot of you know mental health is a taboo in Pakistani culture and many others. I’m 15 years old and a female and I’ve been struggling with mental health issues for a couple of years now. I know I need to go to a gp as a lot of school staff and friends have advised to. It’s just very hard to because if people in my culture and family find out some will think I’m seeking attention and some will think that I have had some evil spirits put on me. I believe sometimes prayer is not the answer as I have watched videos on Islamic scholars expressing that. Personally I believe that this taboo should be broken and mental health is a issue to do with ones mind and chemical imbalances. I just want to know what everyone thinks .

Prayer obviously doesn’t fix depression but it can help a lot. Please visit your GP!! Forget what they think... it’s a sin if they gossip about you like that anyways
