I'm black British and i'm applying for a very competitive course and i have received an offer. One thing that is worrying me is if i only received my offer because i am a minority. You may ask why does this bother you you still got in? However, i don't see it as an advantage at all or a good thing as i would have been chosen over another student due to some arbitrary reason such as race which i think is incredibly unfair. I want to be confident that i got into my first choice not because i am a token ( south park reference) but because i am good enough for the course. I agree with giving students with disadvantaged backgrounds more of a chance of getting in. However . i don't think being black would make me any less able to pass exams. As if to say black people are naturally dumber than other races. I partially understand why they do this in the us due to the race issues there. ( they seem to be really bad there due to job stats on the discrimination against POC )

You got in because you were one of the most competitive/best applicants in comparison to the ones who weren't selected, not because you're "black British".
