So, the situation is the following:

In a group chat 1 of my friends was having a nice conversation. Then someone says something mildly rude. And then idk what happened but my friend broke down and my other friends starting cursing and rude comments and so did my other friend. Eventually these rude comments grew into statements which i dont want to recreate.

Now i know the friend doesnt act like this at all so somethings up i tried talking to him however my other 4 friends are like just leave him but i believe thats not what friends do you see. I want to help him at the same time they are like "why after the stuff he said no one says that even if they are under some sort of stress". I dont know whos in the right here? I'm torn between em but i think the right thing is to see whats up. Please help me thank you

You know them all best, but if this was out of character behaviour I think I'd be trying to find out what's going on too
