It's a narrative and like a story being told over again.
'Look on my works, ye mighty and despair'
Imperative verb 'look'
still has that controlling tone
Links to when pharaohs were powerful in Egypt and they opposed God
despair is ironic as he is wasted and destroyed, nothing to fear
'King of Kings'
he conquered other kings/challenged them
his power is strong but he isn't alive

The poem incorporates the structure of the Petrarchan sonnet, however also includes the ABAB rhyme scheme of the Shakespearean sonnet as well as elements of modern sonnet structure. This symbolises that nothing, even poetry lasts forever.
