Hello,Recently I have heard about the PhD loans. I want to ask if it is possible to apply if I start my PhD on the 1 April 2018? It says the course must start on or after 1 August however somewhere it also says you can apply for a Postgraduate Doctoral Loan amount in any year of your course, but if you apply after the first year you might not get the maximum amount. Please let me know if I can get it whether I start in April 2018 or I need to defer my course start date to September 2018?Thanks

    Hi Eryaman.

Courses that will be eligible to apply for funding will be course that start after the 1st August 2018, as courses that start before this date are still classed as 17/18 academic year.

    Thanks

    Hi Catherine,

Thanks for the reply. There is one more thing, my university is in Scotland and I am a Eu student. Would I be still eligible to get the loan ?

    Kind regards

    Eryaman,

To be eligible as an EU student, you must be studying in England and must be studying an eligible course.

The course can be any of the following in order to be eligible for funding:
    • Full time
    • Part time
    • Distance learning

The following courses will be eligible for support:
    • Subject specialised doctorates
    • Integrated subject specialist doctorates
    • Professional and practice based doctorates

    Thanks

    Catherine
