    Is it better to not-do epq than to do epq badly?

    I don't know but I recommend you do it if you feel you can. I did not do it and I wish I did because I would have had the UCAS tariff points requirements for my Uni and now I have to resit some stuff in order to go.

    Monkeymans is about the only exception. Imo do it properly or not at all, which means the best grade you can get. At least a B.

    Also bear in mind whether your chosen unis take it into account or not.
