SWEATPANTS tucked into uggs: yay or nay? (sweatpants like JW)

Poll

Trakkies with uggs...

What do you think when people (99% of the time girls... today I saw a MAN in trackies and uggs, omg!) wear SWEATPANTS tucked into ugg boots... Do you think they look like they're deliberately going for the 'just rolled out of bed - still look hot' look, or do you think it just looks scummy?

Like today I wore some navy blue (expensive) SWEATPANTS tucked into my beige uggs with a long checkered shirt, a strap top underneath (shirt was unbuttoned halfway down) and a belt ove the shirt just aboge my hips... This was purely because I was running extremely late and also cos I think my jeans make me look too fat atm, ha...

Anyway I felt kinda self-conscious walking around sixth form, like people would either think I was going for the 'rah' look, or because they thought I looked trampy... It was, however, not a fashion statement at all, just for convenience/warmth... Just wondering what people here think of that 'look'...

ta

EDIT: I'm not talking about tracksuit bottoms like you'd wear in a hockey match or whatever, I'm talking about the type that come from places like Jack Wills, Pineapple, Juicy Coture etc.
Gosh I'd never ever be seen DEAD in actual tracksuit bottoms outside of a sport match... and even then I'd rather wear shorts..

Anyone who wears trackies out, other than for anything sports related or just popping out to the shops, cannot be taken seriously.

Your hot.

Uggs, even worn with jeans, look horrible in my opinion. You always see people walking really awkardly in them because the sole of the boot makes the ankle goes inward and it just looks silly. But Uggs with tracksuit bottoms? Not nice.

Look, is this a joke?

Uggs are incredibly rubbish and uncool these days
Tracksuit bottoms are for SPORT.
"trackie bottoms tucked in socks" - The tucking in thing was derided by the arctic monkeys in 2006, and your still trying?

Big nono.

Reply 7

NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Don't wear it. EVER!

Reply 8

I've never even seen that. I didn't know people wore Ugg boots with jeans.

I thought this thread was going to be about tracksuit bottoms tucked into socks.

Anyway - nay for both trackies and ugg boots seperately, never mind together.

On Uni Campus it's all I ever see, it looks naff to be honest and its ironically worn by all the girls who are trying to be posh but just look like upmarket chavs.

Your hot.

haha

it does look really hot on the right girl, but it doesn't look good if you're in an area where every other girl there is sporting that look or if it just doesnt suit you, and as you said then come across as a try hard

Reply 11

Trackies never look good if you want to look respectable, how can anyone disagree?!

Personally I'm not a fan of Uggs at all (ie. Uggly), but when combined with trackie bottoms (I assume when you say trackies you're talking the velour/Eva Longoria type and not, say, your best footballing Nikes)...anyway, Uggs combined with the velour trackie bottoms are in danger of appearing like pyjamas/slippers. I have slippers which look like Ugg boots & baggy pj bottoms that could pass for what some people wear on the street. Personally I'm not a fan of the look you have described - although the upper half sounds really nice (minus the belt).

Also Uggs & trackies isn't really a 'rah' look, far from it. I actually think this combo is the antithesis to the rahs and all of the rahs I know (especially lad rahs) would take the piss out of it. Rahs tend to stick to their polo shirts, rugby shirs, cableknit sweats, jeans etc. The look you have described is more Alex Curran.

But that is purely a subjective opinion & Uggs are obviously very popular so it's just down to different tastes and preferences. I don't wear Uggs & trackies but then I don't wear 'gothic/emo' either, so people like different things.

Having said all of this, like I say, your shirt/vest combo sounds nice and casual but respectable & I totally know what you mean about picking clothes for comfort factor - I'm with you on that one. & convenience. I have this baggy as f'*** hoodie which isn't the most aesthetically pleasing to the eye, (ie. it makes me look like a tramp) but I could seriously go to sleep in it & its perfect to just roll out of bed into. So if comfort factor is high then just go for it, people will understand that! I don't think people will really pay that much attention to what you're wearing anyway, we tend to be more self-conscious about what other people think about us than what the external perspective is.

If you like the look then go for it. Confidence is a big factor in being able to pull off a look. Take some of the ridiculous things models & celebrities wear etc, and then people start to copy them! If I had started wearing hot pants in cold weather I would have been ridiculed but Kate Moss does it and then everyone else follows suit. Because she does it confidently & without reserve. But then again, deciding what to wear isn't all about wanting to look great or fashionable. Tbh I always think the people who turn up to uni/college in fabulous dresses & fashion must have no night life because what do they wear later on? People in the day who just bomb in still in slum clothes (ie. us) are more likely to have been out the nighttime & have chewing gum stuck to their heels. Being slumped half way down a chair and having to endure Hitler's Final Solution etc doesn't require Matthew Williamson.

Wear what you will.
