Is Hatfield Railway Station closed down?

I just checked the Railway Station map and i cant find Hatfield Station anywhere. Has it been closed down?

Im going Hertfordshire University you see and the Hatfield Railway station is supposed to be quite close to the Uni but im a bit concerned now as i cant find it.

Anyone who lives around there or is going to Hertfordshire be able to help me in any way? Thanks

obviously to generate times for this route that fit your journey you'll need to go to
http://www.dracos.co.uk/railway/timetable/

The route is Southall to Paddington, Paddington to Kingscross, Kingscross to Hatfield.

Oh right. Thanks.

Lol just one more thing. Do i have to stop off on each of those stops? Paddington and King Cross and then finally Hatfield. Isnt it just one long relaxing train journey sitting down

No, you have to change at paddington, get the tube to KX and then the train from KX to hatfield.

You can do all this on one ticket though.

Ok thanks a lot for the help

I'd advise you to take someone who has been on trains a fair bit before with you.

Changing at paddington, getting the correct tube line in the correct direction, and then getting the correct train from one of KX's 12 or so platforms probably isn't something to be done by someone on their first time on a train!

why dont you just take the british rail from Hayes station or just bus it from uxbridge straight to hatfield. Its still going to be missions to reach if you take the train, its best to go by car!

Carvell01 is right; given that you just asked whether you had to get off at each of those stations in the timetable.... !

Paddington, and Kings Cross are all major stations, likely to be super-busy and have many trains going from it at any time.

On that though, Paddington and KX are ran by National Rail, and as such all the signs are information screens are really easy to follow. (Any one who has been to Birmingham NS, Man Picc, or Leeds will know this).

The tube on the other hand, to someone who knows what to expect, and knows exactly what line and direction he's travelling on is a cakewalk, to people who haven't been on it... the map looks like a bowl of spaghetti !

Yeh im going with a friend of mine but he doesnt know much about trains either. Im the one whos really doing the work on the journey.

Damn though you made it sound quite confusing. It shouldnt be that hard as picking up a bus is it?

One thing, this link of my journey confuses me: http://www.dracos.co.uk/railway/timetable/?matrix=1;cookies=a%3A1%3A%7Bs%3A7%3A%22TracsID%22%3Bs%3A32%3A%22888D4806D11C4DEFA184F6EC42743CAD%22%3B%7D

How come on Paddingtion it says Tube. How will the TRAIN journey from Southall to Paddington take me to a tube when im on a train?

Deary me you have a lot of learning to do.

You have to get off the train and walk to the paddington tube station to get a tube train. Get on the tube train, then walk from the tube train to kings cross train station.

Paddington has both a National Rail station and an underground station. To get from Paddington to Kings Cross you're best taking wither the Circle Line or Hammersmith and City

Just try to keep calm. If you miss a connection, it's not the end of the world - as you have probably seen from the time table, there are frequent trains. Take your time and you'll be ok! Tubes run every few mintues.

I've lived in central London for nearly a year now, and you do get used to trawling around from station to station to get around and get out of London!

Hope it goes OK.

You are probably best with the hammersmith and city line, the circle line is plagued with problems.

From paddington train station, follow signs to the "hammersmith and city line". You want EAST BOUND, towards Barking (I think this is right, if my tube memory serves me correctly), when you are on the train you will see a map above the window, the train stops at every station, you can count the stations down to your station, get off at Kings Cross St Pancras and follow signs for "Trains".

Once at Kings X you will see a massive departures board, you are looking for trains towards peterborough or cambridge usually. Any train that stops at Hatfield is fine.

Let us know how you get on!
