    Hi,

How can one avoid being scammed?

So found this one bedroom flat in London and contacted them via Zoopla.

Received an email from the agency about them passing on the interest to the Landlord "LL" who would then email me. LL emails and states whats included in the price etc. Also stating he is out of the country so we cannot view it right now and that hopefully we can figure it out and use the website Homeaway.com

I emailed back with questions about what is the deposit, when is move in date etc. and what agency will the contract be with.. (as I previously had searched online to find the agency so I could see if they had anymore properties but the website does not exist)

He emailed back answering all my questions but stating again we cannot view the property as he is not in the country. Also stating the deposit will be paid and guaranteed through Homeaway.com, and that the agency that had emailed me prior and on Zoopla would set up the tenancy agreement.

The agency is called Letting Agency LTD, DY8 Stourbridge - 0330 098 9317 (This is what was on Zoopla)

Since receiving the email from the agency and the LL the property is no longer on Zoopla and I still cannot find the company anywhere.

If you can't view it it doesn't exist. The pictures will be from a real property somewhere but they're really not of what's being offered (which is nothing at all as the proposed property isn't real). Being 'out of the country' is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Cease all communication with the agency and the landlord right now.
