# A level Biology question help watch

1. An individual at rest had a stroke volume of 75 cm3 and a heart rate of 60 beats
per minute.

a Calculate the cardiac output in dm-3 min-1. (1 mark)
b Calculate the cardiac output when the same individual exercises with a stroke volume of 98 cm3 and a heart rate of 103 beats per minute. (1 mark)
c What is the percentage increase in cardiac output? (2 marks)

Thank you!
2. Cardiac output = stroke volume * heart rate, so 75 * 60 for Q1.
For Q2 do 98 * 103
For Q3, divide your answer to Q1 by 100 then divide your answer to Q2 by the number you just got by dividing answer to Q1 by 100. Then do 100 minus this answer and you should get the % increase.
