Best Accommodation for Ravensbourne University?

My boyfriend has an interview for the postproduction course at Ravensbourne starting Sept 2018, and is struggling to choose accomodation. Anything around or ideally under the 10,000 mark would be great, with proximity to the uni being a pretty big factor.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :smile:

Hi bethc222,

Thank you for enquiring about accommodation options at Ravensbourne for 2018/19.

We do not own halls of residence and therefore, all available student accommodation is privately owned. The cost of studying in London is high due to the accommodation prices and we therefore, strongly advise prospective students to consider all the costs of study including accommodation, travel, equipment and food whilst undertaking your course and to ensure you have alternative means of funding such as part-time work and/or savings. You may find the student calculator or the student budget planner useful tools to help figure out a realistic budget.

Ravensbourne do offer some bursaries to our students, we have not yet confirmed the offer for 2018/19 but please visit our website for information about what is currently available to our students. However, there is no financial assistance available for accommodation costs.

Accommodation options:

Scape Living
Ravensbourne have partnered with Scape Living on the Greenwich Peninsula to offer student accommodation. For 2018/19, we have a 100 discounted rooms available at £203.69 per week on a 51 week contract.
The registration process for the discounted rooms at Scape is now open. If you would like to be considered for one of these rooms, please complete the online application form and submit your answers. You will be added to our waiting list for a discounted room at Scape for 2018/19. Please note that this does not guarantee you a place, just that you wish to be considered.
The allocation process will start in May, we have certain criteria that we follow:
- Students have to have accepted their place at Ravensbourne in order to be considered for a room;
- Students with medical disabilities take priority;
- Distance from Ravensbourne;
- First come first served basis as per the date/time you registered interest.
If you are successful in the first round, we will email you to this affect. Scape will then contact you with a booking form. They will require a booking deposit of 2 weeks' rent to confirm your room and will give you a period of 7 working days to complete your booking. If you do not complete within this time, the room will be reallocated to next student on the waiting list. In confirming your booking, you are committing to a 51-week contract with Scape.
Please also be advised that you will be expected to pay a further 2 weeks' rent in August and a refundable damages' deposit of £250 upon check-in in September - this is all before you receive any maintenance loan payments from Student Finance England (first payment is usually received end of October). Please contact Scape directly to arrange a viewing in the meantime.

Unite
Ravensbourne also have an arrangement with Unite at Stratford One, prices for 2018/19 have not yet been released. Please contact Unite directly for more information or visit their website.

Farndale Court
Farndale Court is located in Charlton, which is a 20-40 minute bus ride away depending on traffic, and a popular choice with our students. It offers cluster flat accommodation, comprising of 6 bedrooms, each with ensuite and shared kitchen/living space. Prices for 2018/19 are starting at £640 per month on a 51 week contract. Please contact Farndale Court directly to arrange a viewing.

Halls of Residence
Additionally, we refer students to other private providers such as Cass and Claredale, again you will need to contact these providers directly.

Private Flat & House Shares
There is further information about how to register for private accommodation such as flat and house shares on our website. We have partnered with University London Housing Service to provide Ravensbourne students with access to the housing database to search for accommodation in the private sector.

The Ravensbourne Students' Union are a great source of information to help connect students looking for accommodation. They have a dedicated Facebook page and encourage students to get in touch with any enquiries.

I hope this information is useful, if you have any further questions, please get in touch.

Monica
