Hey, any students deferred 1 or more years? I got ill at the start of college so I’ve gone 2 years back. I finish the last bits of my a levels next year but I’m 18, just wondering if anyone else is in a similar situation as I’m feeling kinda weird about going to uni with people 2 years younger. Don’t want them to feel weird about my disability or anything. Thanks, Jess.

    Hey Jess.:hi:

Loads of people either defer for a year (or two) or go on gap years or do foundation years and so on. Although that doesn't include me, my experience of uni so far has led me to believe that these groups are just as included as everybody else. University is a massive group of people from a huge range of backgrounds, and by and large it's totally inclusive of all of them. Like everything, there's exceptions, and there will be some people who might feel isolated, but by and large I'd argue that's not the case for most people.

Take your time- your education isn’t a race.
Get each stage right and you’ll find other people along the way in similar situations.

There are students from 18 years old to mid 40's on my undergrad course, you have no need to worry. Everyone has shared interests in the course, age becomes barely noticeable.
