Hi, I’m a bit confused how I should apply for the maintenance loan.. I’ve read in other threads that it’s better to apply for tuition fees loan first and get approved then apply for the maintenance loan after.
Would that be the smart thing to do? Or please explain to me how I should do it.. thanks ( in Italian btw)

    Hi houssame1,

As applications are just available, I would advise that you should apply online or send the completed PN1 application with the appropriate evidence to apply as Child of a Migrant Worker.

To advise you what evidence will be required, can I confirm if you will be under 21 years old at the start of the acdemic year and when does your course start.

    Thanks Rona

    Hi Rona,

Thanks for the reply. I will turn 21 on the 29th of August, however I am and I will still be financially dependent on my parents. ( how can prove that though?)

    Many thanks

    Hi houssame1,

To apply as the child of a Migrant Worker the evidence we would require is,

    Employed
    • The students original Passport or National ID Card
    • The parent or step parents original Passport or National ID Card
    • Croatian Nationals Only - Migrant Worker’s Permit (yellow/blue or purple card)
    • A photocopy of the students birth certificate naming the parent
    • If the family member is a step parent, we will need to see the original marriage certificate and the biological parents original Passport or National ID Card
    • If the student is not an EU/EEA National we will need to see Home Office Visas to cover the entire UK residency period
    • A copy of the parent or step parents contract of employment that accurately represents their contracted hours and pay. We will also need a letter from the employer confirming the contract accurately represents the hours and terms of which they work if this is not confirmed on their contract of employment or if they are on a zero hour contract. This letter needs to be signed by a member of the Human Resources Department or their Manager (we may verify the employment status with their employer)
    • The parent or step parents last 3 months payslips (if available)
    • The parent or step parents most recent P60 (if available)
    • Termly evidence

    Self Employed
    • The students original Passport or National ID Card
    • The parent or step parents original Passport or National ID Card
    • Croatian Nationals Only - Migrant Worker’s Permit (yellow/blue or purple card)
    • A photocopy of the students birth certificate naming the parent
    • If the family member is a step parent, we will need to see the original marriage certificate and the biological parents original Passport or National ID Card
    • If the student is not an EU/EEA National we will need to see Home Office Visas to cover the entire UK residency period
    • Evidence that the parent or step parent is registered self employed with HMRC (can accept UTR letter)
    • The parent or step parents last 3 months invoices and corresponding bank statements (if available)
    • The parent or step parents last 3 months business expenditure (if available)
    • The parent or step parents most recent tax return (if available)
    • Termly evidence

    Thanks

    Catherine

Hi Catherine and thank you for taking the time to reply on my inquiry.

I just have one more question if you don’t mind. To qualify for maintenance loan, is there a specific minimum hours that need to be worked each week or does it have to be full time?

    Thank you again

    Hi houssame1,

There isn't a set amount that you need to earn as long as your pay is marginal.

    Thanks

    Catherine
