Struggling to know whether, when writing an academic essay, it is necessary to reference a convention or not?
For example, I am mentioning the Salisbury-Addison Convention, so would it be necessary to reference this and give it a citation in the essay?

Thank you so much for any help on this!!

Cite this; the doctrine is explained officially by a report in the House of Lords library. You can absolutely cite that.

    Can be cited as.

House of Lords Library, The Salisbury Doctrine, 30 June 2006, LLN 2006/006.
