I really hope I get a response about UNIQ Digital. I’d have to be really thick not to get an invite to the course that pretty much every applicant gets the chance to take part in.

I’ve been through more than a lot of the other applicants, got the best GCSE results in my school (with 2A*s, which says a lot about my school’s record- they have a 24% 9-5 rate for English and Maths too) even after I attempted suicide but still, nothing I do ever seems to be enough. Now UNIQ probably think I’m incapable of even being able to handle a pity course.

Rant over. Things just aren’t going well at the moment and this is just one more thing. It just feels like everyone else is getting everything, even though I got a place on two study days( one of which I can’t attend due to transport issues) but even then, I didn’t hear of any rejections on here.
Uniq has nothing to do with admission. I seem to remember a similar perception about the shadowing scheme...? Focus on the grades, supercurriculars, and everything else that's important, and you'll be set.

Rejected for chemistry. Not really surprised.

I wouldn’t be so bothered if I hadn’t had a second opportunity snatched away this week. However, I am going to a study day in March. The thing I’m most interested in though is when the invites to UNIQ Digital are being sent out. I’m presuming that these are out at a later date and I honestly can’t wait to get stuck in.
What actually is UNIQ Digital? And did we apply for it as part of our application to the summer school? I got rejected as well pretty disappointed

Thanks, yeah I might try and find an open day in April, as I really wanna go there
Cambridge will be opening STEM residential applications later this year! I'm not sure when, but that's always an option (I know the maths one has passed - we find out tomorrow if successful or not). The STEM one includes more variety, I think. I'm not totally sure when but I'm sure it's with Trinity and Christ's.

The reason I’m upset this time is because my school denied me of a supercurricular chemistry activity and gave ot to an engineer. Opportunities for chemistry, although there are a lot, are nowhere near at the same level of abundance as engineering and physics. The fact that I also got a chance to write a personal statement makes ot a little worse, as I tried to show my passion.

The people telling me that I’m not good enough (particularly this week) made this rejection worse than it should have been. I would have brushed past it. The lack of an invite to Digital is kind of just a little bit of extra salt on the wound (a wound that wasn’t even caused by UNIQ).

I got rejected too but I’m pretty certain that applying to the summer/spring courses counts as an application to the digital one too. I think it’s basically subject-specific online content and admissions advice but please correct me if I’m wrong

I got accepted for Uniq Spring (politics), I know it's ungrateful but I really wanted to do the summer PPE programme but oh well.
I got accepted for the same thing, I also applied for PPE but I'm opposite to your reaction, I prefer the politics residential. Congratssss, probably see you there in one month 👏🏽

Hey guys, congratulations to anyone who got a place! Just wanted to pop in and offer some consolation to those who were rejected. I was rejected from UNIQ last year but I now have an offer from Oxford. The criteria for uniq is very heavily focused on your background so don't think you're not good enough!

Don't let anybody ever tell you that you're not good enough - use that as motivation and show them what you can really do! Remember UNIQ has no bearing on the admissions process for the university, things like subject applitude tests and interviews will be far more important.

As somebody who wants to study history, I share your frustration at the lack of opportunities compared to engineering / physics / medicine. Why don't you have a look at Sutton Trust Summer Schools - loads of great universities on there such as Cambridge, Edinburgh. Which ones you can apply for depends on what subject your're looking at. Don't give up on that dream - you'll get there!

Rejected for PPE. It came as no surprise as my gcse grades where way below what I should have got, and my are does not meet the socio-Economic criteria. Wishing everyone who get in the best time. I’m really hoping I get into Sutton trust. I have had no luck on summer school applications. Sutton trust is my final hope. However I’m not feeling hopeful for that either.
Don't worryyy, you'll be fine. There'll always be more opportunities, just stay optimistic and when doing your Sutton trust personal statement, get a teacher that specialises in the subject you chose to go through it and edit it. Wishing you the best

I’m pretty sure that I’ve applied for Sutton Trust but I’m not sure, so I’ll check. I know that there are plenty of people who didn’t go to UNIQ but get into Oxford.

You’re right about medicine too. Loads of opportunities for them. For chemistry, our school offers the Chemistry Olympiad (which isn’t done until A2 anyways), the Cambridge Chemistry challenge and a practical competition (which I somehow wasn’t picked for?). Three things. There are more general STEM ones, but chemistry rarely gets an exclusive event unlike physics and engineering. Medicine get a lot of adverts for all kinds of things. Medicine have their own CLUB, for crying out loud.

I’m just going to apply to the Nuffield Program and organise work experience for July, I think (since I have to do that now to get any kind of placement).
