So I've always heard that it is dangerous to post pictures of myself online on platforms such as Instagram but as long as they aren't the type that could be used against me, how am I putting myself at risk? I have a private account which I'm quite selective about but why is it risky to have a public account?

It isnt always dangerous, but there are strange people out there and some of them arent nice. they could already know you or they could try and track you down or try to cause trouble. As long as you are sensible then an Avatar isnt going to make any difference.

Whatever picture you post could possibly be found on the internet by another person. You hear cases where people get photos online to catfish other people.
