Hi, I’m about to start the second year of my apprenticeship in April at the age of 20, meaning my wages will rise to £5.60 per hour. However I turn 21 in September and I’m wondering if my pay per hour will then rise to £7.05 or will it remain at the £5.60 per hour rate? Thanks in advance.

At present in England, apprentices over the age of 19 are entitled to the national minimum wage after they have completed the first 12 months of their Apprenticeship.
    £7.05 as you will be 21 .

    Hi there,

The current minimum wage rate for an apprentice is £3.50 per hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. You must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for your age if you’re an apprentice aged 19 or over and have completed your first year.

    Hope this helps
