There are just as exploitative jobs which involve long hours, low pay and little promise of advancement. Which involve selling your body, your mind and your time, but do not involve sex.
Don't be afraid to name them. AMAZON treat your warehouse staff humanely.

Ellie Flynn has made a documentary investigating landlords that offer free accommodation in return for sexual favours. Her disgust is directed at the landlords simply daring to make these offers, let alone actioning these arrangements. I feel this disgust is misplaced..
It is misplaced. She can just as easily direct that same disgust towards the woman who is exploiting male sexuality for accommodation without monitory pay but she doesn't. Why? because we live in a bias, gynocentric world that refuses to hold women accountable for their actions.

I agree it is a horrible situation to be in where you are homeless and desperate to the extent that you would agree to these conditions. But banning these would do nothing the solve the real problem - there are people who are homeless and desperate. Ban sex for rent agreements and you still have the same people being desperate, and slightly more are going to be homeless. You actually make the problem worse unless you provide an alternative.

We all get offered stupid things all the time and hopefully we are not desperate enough to agree to them. To pick a less serious example, there are shops near me who sell water for £1 a bottle when I can get as much as I want for much cheaper piped to my home. If you're desperate enough for a drink you might well buy it, but this extortion isn't the problem, it's that people are thirsty. Banning the sale of water at extortionate prices doesn't help the thirsty people at all.

The proposal at the end of the documentary is for the law to be more explicit in what is legal and what isn't, and for these to be enforced. There is no mention of anything that would actually help the homeless and desperate people. They are entering into exploitative arrangements because they have no other option - if you are going to call on the government to do anything, it should be to help these people rather than restrict their already crappy options even further.
    Indeed.

It’s an absolute disgrace that any developed country never mind one as wealthy as ours has people spending so much of their income on a home and that we have any significant number of homeless people.

It requires government intervention to directly commission house building for sale and rent (council housing) to the tune of hundreds of thousands per year until the issue is sorted.

You can’t expand a population and not provide the basics for these people to live.

Make sure no woman has to choose between going homeless or selling sex to landlord. This requires a socialist repsonse.
Why can't these women go out begging, get benefits or hell, even a job, like most men have to do??

I'd normally agree with you but in this case I don't think many straight men would turn down a shag from an average enough looking woman, especially a landLADY when homelessness is a big issue here, and for our men especially. Shag AND shelter? Get in .

The issue is, straight men getting exploited by landLORDS, and that homelessness is a big issue for our men. Now that freaks me out.

So you want your fellow countrymen to be beggars and on benefits?

That's all fine by me, just don't turn around and blame the state of the country on them. And "get a job"? Yea, jobs aren't hanging on laundry lines that you can just hop up and grab down and get. A human being has to provide it. People have been on JSA meaning they can only stay on JSA if they prove they're looking for work. Yet they're still unemployed despite looking, regardless of personal factors.

Also learn something about your own country. Many areas are seriously deprived. The whole of UK is turning into Skegness. Let's call it the Skegness Effect, when citizens and EU migrants neglect the UK because it's cheaper to tour abroad, or because they favour certain cities like London and Manchester to give money to or to prop businesses and new homes. So they can't just "get a job" because the place is a literal underdeveloped and abandoned dead end.

Not sure your logic is all the way connected but at least someone around here doesnt think that there are people on benefits who still suck **** (sarcasm)

Google the definition of EXPLOITED. You know, that thing that happens to vulnerable and possibly desperate people?

work is exploitation, but doesn't mean you need to be a hooker - plenty of other options available in the West
