# Need Help with Edexcel AS Further Maths Series Question watch

1. *Roots of Polynomials Question*

I'm unsure on how to do on this question.

I know that for a quartic equation, it is x^4 - sumx^3 + pairsx^2 - triplesx + product.

Therefore, the triples must equal to -1. However, I don't understand what they mean by sum of alpha, beta, gamma.

Any help would be appreciated!

3. The sum of Alpha, Beta and Gamma is an abbreviation for -d/a. If you are on the Edexcel Exam Board, all of the abbreviations for the sums will be at the bottom of page 59. AS for other exam boards, I wouldn't have a clue. Hope this helps
