Hi guys
I haven’t seen a thread for this so I thought I’d make one
Paper 1. 05/06/2018 (Physical 1, Physical 2 and inorganic 1, inorganic 2) PM exam

Paper 2. 12/06/2018 (Physical 1, physical 2 and organic 1 and organic 2) PM exam

Paper 3. 20/06/2018 (practical and synoptic paper) AM exam

Well the new spec is a challenge since AS and A2 are mixed so I’m still revising the content, but I’ll hopefully finish soon so I can start past papers.

Hopefully around late March/early April time?
Hi :wavey: Nice exam thread! I've added it to our big list of exam threads here where you can find helpful threads for all the exams you're doing :h: If you feel like making any more exam threads, let me know the link and I can add it in as well! Happy revising :bl:
Anyone have any resources for the practical paper?

I've now added a link which contains a revision resource for the AS practicals and some other practical techniques. Unfortunately, it doesn't have guides for the A2 practicals.

Someone sent a link in a chat I’m a part of. I don’t know if an A2 version exists but I imagine it’s somewhere on the student room.

How's everyone finding Chemistry revision?
Any predictions as to what may come up?
Any topics you're worried about?
What do you hope to get in chemistry?

Revisions going alright I guess 😅. A lot of flashcards and past papers to get my head around everything.

I need to get an A but transition metals and practicals are making that very difficult lmao.
Hope everyone else is doing alright!

Very stressful, trying to do as many past papers as possible and go over transition metals, synthesis and practicals:biggrin:
Any predictions as to what may come up?
I bet it will be everything
Any topics you're worried about?
transition metals, synthesis and practicals
What do you hope to get in chemistry?
Need an A for med school:redface:

How were all your mocks? Are you all mainly doing past papers?
I'm a little haphazard with my revision  Some topics I've gone over are okay but others like transition metals and thermodynamics are difficult :frown:

Weird coz I find the inorganic sections the easiest

My mocks were utter *censored* simply because I didn't revise Organic or Inorganic Chemistry :colondollar:

Ok so Transition metals is the pain in most people's lives?

Is it just me who hates the Biology part of Organic? (Like Primary, Secondary and Tertiary structures)

Ah you see organic is my favourite! I find the biology bits interesting and love mechanisms. Synthesis just makes sense to me 😅. I can't stand inorganic though.

My mocks haven't been too bad but I'm still waiting to hear how I did on my paper 3 mock and I can already tell you it was not good lmao.
So glad I've found this thread!

How's everyone finding Chemistry revision?
Okay, a lot better than this time last year when chemistry was suuch a big worry for me! Mostly doing papers now but still wanting to go over practicals

Any predictions as to what may come up?
Honestly no idea, seems as almost everything makes an appearance over the 3 papers

Any topics you're worried about?
The practicals, in case there's a long question on a practical I'm not familiar with- and also confused with writing conventional representations (is it the reduced or oxidised forms that are closest to the salt bridge? I've never seemed to find an answer!)
And also just long calculations of pH from graphs

What do you hope to get in chemistry?
At least an A (medicine offer is AAA), possibly A*

Good luck to everyone

Why are you all finding transition metals hard? (I'm at uni now and I'm tutoring someone who is doing these exams, when I did A Level chem I didn't struggle with transition metals that much, so I'm just wondering what makes it hard for you all?)

Everything you've written is similar to me! I'm mainly doing past papers right now, we are doing them in class but I do some at home too- I got A's in my february mocks and then A*s in my april mocks it's still a worry in case there's long 6 markers that I get stuck on, or questions that require one of your answers throughout the question (especially if I can't come to an answer lol) !! Best of luck

For me it's the fact they just seem to pull equations out of their arse 😅. I'll do a question and write the equation and get it right then do a similar question in another paper and they want something different. It's also a lot of memorisation and apparently my brain doesn't want to remember anything transition metal-related lmao. (I'm just more of an organic person I guess!)
